I know what many of you are thinking, one of two things, or possibly both. 1) OMG are you crazy 2) Well of course it is because you deal with dead people. And the answer to both of those is NO I’m not crazy and the death card has nothing to do with death or dead people. It does have to do with the death of a way of being. A metamorphosis!
Here is why it is my favourite…. in life we struggle, we learn, we fight for what we want, we go through hard times and good times and it all repeats. When the death card appears in a reading, it means all of the things you have gone through have made you grow, evolve and change. That everything you have done until this point is finally going to pay off and a truly new beginning and new empowered improved you is emerging. It is the death of a way of being, the death of the old you and a new you is here to stay.
What is amazing about receiving this card is that there is no going back, you have learned what you needed to learn, you are not going to recycle the same situation over and over again. You have earned the success and you have transformed yourself!!!
Think of it like this – you are a caterpillar, inching your way through life, crossing sidewalks, and busy streets. You have gotten stepped on, but survived, you almost gotten eaten a few times by birds, and finally you get across into the grass, working hard to get to a tree branch (your goal), it takes all your strength, at times not knowing if you can take anymore. But you keep moving forward, finally you get to a place where you take a rest, heal, and learn. You focus on yourself for a moment, recoup and cocoon yourself in protection and healing. Then as you cocoon you start to connect to who you are, how amazing you are and what you really want to do and be. Then after you do some work, you emerge. You are 100% different, you are no longer a caterpillar that is inching across the road, you are a beautiful butterfly. You are empowered, you’ve gained confidence and let go of the struggle. You have a new perspective. Now you can soar to heights you never thought you could achieve. You are lighter, and you are 100% authentically yourself and who you are meant to be!
For me it makes me so happy when I see the card, it means that this transformation is happening, or will happen (depending on where it lands in the spread). Yes, sometimes going through this rebirth can be painful. But in the end – it is worth it!!! You know the saying ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ well that is the death card. But for me the death card says, ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you an amazing, empowered version of yourself’!!
Embrace the change, it is going to be fabulous!!!
